FAQ
1) What is the difference between MGO and UMF?
Ans: MGO (Methylglyoxal) and UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) are both measures used to assess the quality and potency of Manuka honey, but they evaluate different aspects.
2) Why the NZ honey I purchased consist with separate layer, is it consider as spoilage?
Ans: It's normal for honey to get separate layers as due to temperature fluctuation at surrounding environment as honey is a natural product, different types of sugar in the honey will turn into different layers according to their weight. When we store in a stable, cool temperature again, the layer will be gone.
Ans: Infants under 12 months should not consume honey due to the risk of infant botulism, a serious intestinal infection caused by Clostridium bacteria, which may be present in honey. Since an infant’s digestive system is still developing, they are more easily affected to this condition. However, older children and adults have more mature digestive systems that can effectively handle and eliminate these bacteria. To be safe, it is recommended to introduce honey to children around the age of 2 when their digestive system is more developed.
